I’m trying to connect an OPC UA client to OPC DA server via UaGateway (evaluation version). I have managed to connect all the parts – the client to the gateway and the gateway to the server, but I don’t know, how to access items on the server. Is there some documentation or tutorial on this topic?

The items should be available through browsing the address space as normal, if the DA server supports browsing.

In the documentation, there is a note about DA 3.0 vs DA 2.0 browsing, which is good to check:

http://documentation.unified-a…..wsing.html

If the DA server does not support browsing at all, you will need to be able to define the NodeId:s manually in your UA Client application.

Hello,

Do you solve the problem? What do you do, please?

I have the same problem. I am using the OPC server CoDeSys DA for a PLC Festo CPX-CEC. I configured it on UaGateway as an OPC COM DA Server, which seems to be all right, since I can connect to the server through the Configuration Tool and also access it through an OPC client (in this case Matrikon Explorer). However, I am not able to load the items (tags – input and output symbols) that I have in the PLC program.

I followed the tip left by Mr. Aro but I did not succeed.

Can you help me please?

Hello Marcos,

Based on your description, it sounds like the OPC server in question is probably working correctly but the PLC program should be configured to expose the data (input and output symbols).

So, I would suggest that you first see the PLC documentation and make sure that the correct data should be available.

According the suggestions by these posts and emails I solved the problem by upgrading the CoDeSys provided by Festo from version 2.3.9.19 to 2.3.9.28.

Now the clients (SampleSampleConsoleClient – from the Prosys OPC UA Java SDK, and UaExpert) are working good.

Thank you.

The above is helpful, but I’m still having connectivity issues connecting the Prosys Classic OPC Server to the UaGateway. I’ve just started to eval this software, and I can see in the Device Address Space there appears the Prosys.OPC.Simulation server under ‘OPC COM DA Servers’. The browse worked ok. However when I hit the ‘Connect’ button absolutely nothing happens, and I’m still not connected. The fields for the connection tab are as follows:

===Server Status===
Name: Prosys.OPC.Simulation
Server Status: No License
Server URL: opcda://localhost/Prosys.OPC.Simulation

=== Configuration OPC COM DA Server Connection ===
Server Information
Host Name: localhost
ProgId: Prosys.OPC.Simulation

Any idea what I can try to enable this connection to work?

Hello, thank you for evaluating our software. Usually, in the “Server Status” field, it’s either connected or disconnected. But yours shows “No License”. So I think that the problem is cause by the fact that the 1 hour evaluation time has run out. Please try to restart UaGateway.
