Hi,

I am using the OPC UA Simulation Server. Today I installed the software (v2.3.2-146) on a windows pc and everything worked fine, until I wanted to use a drop-down menu. If I use any drop-down menu (e.g. for choosing the signal type of a new signal in the simulation tab) the software immediately crashes (not responding) and I have to kill it in the Windows Task Manager. Is this a known issue?

Hi,

Which windows edition/version you have?

We have received one similar report for windows server 2016 a while ago https://forum.prosysopc.com/forum/opc-ua-simulation-server/simulation-client-crashing-when-using-drop-downs/

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I am reporting the same issue for Windows 10 Pro v1703 using the OPC UA Simulation Server v2.3.2-146, SDK Version 2.3.1-772, Stack Version v1.02.337.18

Is there any way I can get access to a previous version of the simulation software that may not have this bug?

Thanks,

Aaron

Hi Aaron,

Thank you for the issue report. This issue is something that is reported to us from time to time. Unfortunately, the cause of the issue is still not clear to us and reproducing this issue has proven to be hard. As an example, I’m using the exactly same Windows version as you, but I have never encountered this issue myself.

I’m happy to send you instructions about downloading an older version of the Prosys OPC UA Simulation Server. However, there’s a chance that the same issue happens also with the older version. Anyway, I’ll send you an email and you can test for yourself.

As a conclusion, the issue was caused by a JRE bug related to touchscreen computers. This can be fixed by updating to a newer Java version.

At the moment, the currently released versions of Prosys OPC UA Simulation Server and Prosys OPC UA Historian are effected by this issue.

These applications are self-contained packages which means that they contain a private JRE for running the application. So, the user cannot update the Java themselves. We’ll release new versions which have a newer Java bundled in the installer.
