Hello everyone,

I am entirely new to this OPC UA world. I need to create a demo program where I need to connect to Kepware Server Ex from my java program, fetch data at regular intervals and print that data to my console. I am trying to get enough knowledge about the OPC topology, specifications and the architecture through some manuals and tutorials. But while doing that, I want to start my coding as well as I don’t have enough time. I downloaded the OPC-UA Java SDK evaluation version for this demo purpose. All I want to know where and how should I start with this task. Along with the SDK I got the sample server and client programs which I am not able to run in my local eclipse as I am getting some “Error: Could not find or load main class ProsysSDKDemo.samples.com.prosysopc.ua.samples.client.SampleConsoleClient” error. I tried resolving the error but in vain.

Can anyone please let me know of any manual or tutorial or java program which will guide me with my program or give enough hints about the approach I need to follow. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks….

Hi,

The Readme and tutorials in the doc folder is a good place to start.

I would try first running the client/server from the .bat/.sh scripts that are in the samples folder. It is not required, but if you manage to start them there, then the java environment is OK.

Create new Java project in eclipse, copy samples and lib folders, add all jars (except those starting with “sc”) in the lib to the project classpath (the “sc”; spongy castle, is used for android). Make sure that the samples (or copy them to src) folder is a source folder (Right click on folder -> build path -> Use as a source folder). Right click on SampleConsoleClient.java and run as Java application.
