Hi guys,

does anybody know a good Discover Service Server. I’ve found this one but it doesn’t really help me. Also it lacks fo configuratino settings.
I need it for testing purposes on a mac. I want the server running on a Windows 8 in a Virtual Machine and start a connection with the help of this framework.

The recommended one is provided by the OPC Foundation from

http://opcf.org/Downloads.aspx…..038;CI=286

It looks like the link you found distributes the same application, though…

The OPC Foundation is preparing also a new release of the local discovery server. But it will not be available on Mac OSX either.

How exactly do you want to use it?

HI,
I want to connect two Java applications. One is running on a mac. This computer also has a virtual machine installed with Windows 8. The other applications is external and runs on a totally different machine.

If you know the server URL, you can connect directly using that one.

The Discovery Server can provide you a list of UA applications and the URL of each, if you do not know them.

If you wish, you can run the discovery server on the Windows computer and register the server in there. although it is running in a bit different address, although the idea of the Local Discovery Server is to keep a list of local applications. But it is not necessary.

The OPC Foundation is also working on a other Discovery applications and procedures, which are meant to provide knowledge of all servers in a subnet, for example.
