We’re experiencing problems when connecting to a server:

org.opcfoundation.ua.common.RuntimeServiceResultException: org.opcfoundation.ua.common.ServiceResultException: Bad_CertificateInvalid (code=0x80120000, description=”2148663296, Could not parse certificate: java.io.IOException: Empty input”)

We can connect with the same client to other servers. It’s just this server that is giving problems. Security is set to None,None. What could cause this problem?

Btw: It fails with the same error with the SampleConsoleClient.

The client is not providing any certificate with None security.

Both client and server specifies “None” security, and it works with our other servers. Can a server require certificate even when using None security? As far as I can see from the SampleConsoleClient logs, it reads the certificates generated in the PKI folder in the samples folder.

Yes, it looks like the server is expecting a certificate and fails when it does not get one.

The specification has not been very clear on this and has been revised in 1.02 to be more clear when certificates should be sent and expected.

It seems like the problem is that the server is returning an empty certificate string, rather than null. I’m not familiar with the specification in detail, but it looks to me like something that could/should by handled by the SDK?

OK, I interpreted that the error comes from the server. Do you have a bit more extensive logging from that part, which we could examine more and enable a fix in the stack or SDK. You can also contact by email to uajava-support at prosysopc.com.
