Hi,
we wrote a tool, based on the OPC UA Java SDK, that browses a whole Address space of an Ua Server and displays it in a tree. A little bit like UaExpert, but with the possibility to browse the Server and then work with the variables offline. This tool worked fine with every kind of Ua Server. Now we tested it for the first time with the Ua Server of UaGateway from Unified Automation. The Gateway has an underlying connection to an OPC DA Server.
Now after browing this Ua Server with our tool we realised a strange behavior. Each Variable and Object Node has many Child nodes. There are alway the same nodes, it seems like those are some kind of attributes of each node. The strange thing is, that these child nodes are not visible in UaExpert, but our browsing tool somehow finds these child nodes and puts them into the tree. I would love to add some screenshots, but can’f find the option how to do it in this forum. If necessay i can send them later to the ProsysOpc support.

Is there a way how to filter these child nodes with the SDK?

Thanks

Ibrahim

Hi Ibrahim,

Thank you for the issue report. You’re correct that you cannot attach screenshots here on the forum which is a limitation.

In this case, I would say that the screenshots are very important so please send them to us at the mailing list uajava-support prosysopc.com

However, already at this point I’d like to mention that there is a way to filter references in the Prosys OPC UA Java SDK. Please start by looking at the methods AddressSpace.setReferenceTypeId and AddressSpace.setBrowseDirection. These methods set the browse direction “permanently”. In addition to these options, you can also set the options per-call if you don’t want to set them permanently. We’ll be happy to assist in more detail once we receive the screenshots and more information.
