Hello,

Is it possible to connect an extra laptop (server) between a (in my case Phoenix AXC1050) PLC to for example TIA Portal by OPC UA and how should this be done?

So below a little schematic of the project:

From Machine Phoenix AXC1050 programmed in PcWorx (OPC UA Client??) RV50Modem Laptop 1 server (Which only has to receive and send data from A to B and back) Laptop 2 with TIA Portal V16 (OPC UA Server??) TIA Portal WinCC Visualisation.

I am not sure which program I should / could use on the Laptop 1.
Could someone please help me with an explanation?Laugh

Excuse me for my english.
Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,
Joost

Hello,

Could you elaborate on what the OPC UA application running on Laptop 1 should do? Assuming the other applications are a Client and a Server, if the application needs to receive data from Phoenix AXC1050 and give it to TIA Portal V16 and vice versa, then you would need an application that is both a Client and a Server. But is there a reason you can’t connect the other two applications to each other directly?

In addition, typically WinCC would be a Client and a PLC would be a Server.

You could use Prosys OPC UA Historian to collect data from multiple Servers and have the data available in single place. You could also use OPC UA Gateway to connect your application. Fore more information, see https://www.prosysopc.com/products/opc-ua-historian/ and https://www.prosysopc.com/products/opc-ua-gateway/
