Hi,
I have installed Prosys UA Simulation server 5.0.4 -284 and UA Monitor 1.1.0 -206
I wish to create alarms on level tag . I suppose the alarm limits are already configured for 70 (High) and 30(low)
but dot know how to generate these alarms on UA server and also monitor them in UA monitor
is there a detail guide that would explain it
thanks

Hello,

At the moment, Simulation Server doesn’t support defining customized Events or Alarms. If you’re referring to MyLevel Node, then the Value of that Node is used to generate MyLevelAlarm Alarms with the limit values you mentioned. Those Alarms can be used to test Alarm handling of Client applications.

Monitor doesn’t support monitoring OPC UA Events or Alarms generated by OPC UA Servers. Instead, it has its own non-OPC UA Notifications system that allows generating Warnings and Alarms based on limit values.

Dear Matti Siponen,
Thanks very much for reply
you stated “Those Alarms can be used to test Alarm handling of Client applications.”
So how to check that – what configuration needs to be done on server tool and on client tool ?
thanks

Hello,

You can use Prosys OPC UA Browser to monitor events generated by Simulation Server. All you need to is connect to Simulation Server and open Browser’s Event View tab. The Server’s Server Node is monitored for Events by default and monitoring this Node means monitoring all Events generated by the Server. You can Monitor MyDevice if you’re only interested in Alarms generated by the value of MyLevel.

There is no need to configure anything on the Simulation Server side.

Dear Matti Siponen,
Thanks once again for your reply
The event view display the Message as “level Exceeded’ when the level falls below lowlimit and when it goes above high limit
is there any way to change the message , at server level , when level goes below low limit ?
and only Severity changes when level goes HighHigh Limit . is there a way to change message on that event too ?

THanks

Hello,

Simulation Server doesn’t provide means for customizing MyLevelAlarm.

However, if you have access to the evaluation version or the full version of Prosys OPC UA SDK for Java, then you can modify SampleConsoleServer sample application’s MyNodeManager class and customize MyAlarm’s limits and severities and messages associated with the limits. In the sample, the message is static and same for all limits, but it should be relatively easy to modify the code to change the message based on the limit triggering the alarm.

Hello,

The SDK does support Historical Alarms & Events. See EventHistory and MyHistorian classes used by SampleConsoleServer for an example of how to add support for reading Event history. Do note that there is no wizard for generating such classes and you would have to adapt them to your Server application manually.
