For now the Simulation Server is designed to be a single instance only, i.e. the database address is hardcoded and cannot be changed. The application also uses the settings and simulation XML in addition to the database (saving connection logs for the “Connection Log” view and saving user authentication). Therefore just changing the database wont help (even if it were possible). Also since the app uses an embedded database, it’s designed to be the sole user of that database so multiple instances would conflict the settings.

(Note that technically also the ApplicationURI (which appears in e.g. certificates) should be unique for every UA server, so it’s not just the port.)

We might implement multiple instance support someday.

If you are willing to run the app under multiple users at the same time, you should be able to have multiple instances running (since the settings are user – specific, note that the certificates will also be different for each one). They will still have the same ApplicationURI which might conflict/confuse some UA applications (since it’s considered as unique identifier, e.g. our OPC UA Historian expects so)
