We are currently working to integrate Prosys OPC software into our automated testing and deployment workflows. I would like to inquire whether there is official support or documentation for automating the installation and configuration of your OPC products—specifically the Prosys OPC UA Simulation Server (or other applicable Prosys tools).

Could you please confirm the following:

* Are there any options for automating post-installation configuration, such as loading default server configurations, setting endpoints, or predefining security settings?
* Are there licensing or technical restrictions that we should be aware of when automating deployments?

Any guidance, scripting examples, or documentation you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Most of our Application Products are traditional Desktop-based applications, i.e. the only supported interaction is with the graphical user interface; they are not designed for that kinds of interactions/workflows. (That doesn’t mean you might not be able to make it work though)

Regarding licensing questions, please ask sales@prosysopc.com. In most cases licenses are tied to the computer hostname.

Our newest product: Forge (https://prosysopc.com/products…..-ua-forge/) is a bit different as it was designed to be web-based.

That being said, due to similar requests in the past, there is flags ‘-h’ or ‘–headless’ that can be given when starting the Simulation Server to remove the UI. It’s only purpose is to avoid the need to play around with virtual displays, there isn’t e.g. a designed way to shut down the application without the UI.

It might be possible to copy some configuration files from another machine, but note that some of them might include e.g. the machine’s hostname. Any certificate files shouldn’t be moved, but instead new ones be generated by the application.

If you only care about running with defaults it should create everything on startup.

P.S.
We currently make installers with install4j, as a side-effect of that the flags related to it will work on the installer, please see https://www.ej-technologies.co…..tions.html, of these “-q Executes the installer in unattended mode.” might be of some use. Note that we do not test these in general.
