How do I add static string and int variables in the simulation?
Do I do it in the simulation tab or by editing simulation.xml?

I’m also getting this error from my MES.
“Cannot cast an absolute ExpandedNodeId to a NodeId. Use ExpandedNodeId.ToNodeId instead.”
What could be causing this?

Thanks!

Hi,

Currently adding nodes is limited to what can be done via the ‘Simulation’ tab, i.e. there is no way to add “static nodes” (or well you can pause the simulation, and those nodes allow writing, but technically it was not designed for that). There is a set of static nodes in Root/Objects/StaticData/StaticVariables which can be used. We have some plans/work-in-progress on more advanced simulations, but no estimates when those would be available.

For the MES, I’ll probably know why. It has been a somewhat long standing issue that our (java) SDK (which is used in the SimulationServer) returns ExpandedNodeIds with the namespace uri set for the standard namespace in some cases. This mostly affect Browse responses. Most of the times clients will handle this as normally (they will convert the uri to the index via the namespace array information), but e.g. in this case apparently not. This is fixed for SDK version 4 (which is work in progress, release hopefully soon), so it will be part of SimulationServer version 4.

Thank you, Bjarne. For now, I made some OPC UA servers using Node in Ubuntu. I’m still using your OPC UA Client – which is a beast.
