Write request does not reach OPC UA server (not even in wireshark)

Hi,
we are using the Prosys Java SDK (4.5.8-1468) for a UA client application. Currently we are experiencing a strange behaviour: We see in our logs that we try to write an int value in the server and that thread hangs forever and does not come back. This happens only randomly and is not always the case. We also cannot see the corresponding writeRequest package in wirehark. What could be reasons for the write request to hang in the client and not even create the write request package?

thanks

Ibrahim

Hi,

Hmm.. sounds odd.
I assume you are using “normal write methods” i.e. not UaClient.writeValue(NodeId nodeId, Object value, boolean autoConvert) with ‘true’ on the ‘autoConvert’? Because that would first read the DataType from the server (to know to which type to convert), which could in theory take some time.

Is the connection to the server ok?
Does the request timeout? Our default here should be 2 minutes, that will also timeout “client-side”.
Does log show any error etc.?

That is a bit older version, though I do not immediately remember things relating to things like this, but could you check does that happen with the latest version https://downloads.prosysopc.com/opcua/Prosys_OPC_UA_SDK_for_Java_4_Release_Notes.html#version-4-10-6 ?

Does any other service Request transfer during the failing, for example, does the typical periodic Read of the ‘ServerStatus’ happen and be visible in the wireshark?
