Hi everyone!

I have some questions about the maxAge parameter used by the Uaclient.Read () method

I read in the javaDoc that: “If the Server does not have a value that is within the maximum age, it will be read to new value from the data source.”
– How do you manage the maxAge parameter of the Uaclient.Read () method on the server side? do I have to use IoManagerListener?
– The minTimestamp parameter in the IOManagerlistener.OnReadValue () method refers to the maxAge?

Another point: “If maxAge is set to 0, the server is attempted to read from the data source if maxAge is set to MAX_CACHE_AGE, the server will try to get a cached value. “
– Cache value refers to cacheVariable?

Hi,

The server side SDK does not do automated handling of maxAge parameter. It’s an application level issue to decide how the value is read. In other words, you can react to the maxAge parameter in the IoManagerListener but you don’t have to react if you don’t want to.

The minTimestamp parameter is basically the same thing as maxAge but just in a more convenient format. The server side SDK calculates this value based on the maxAge parameter supplied by the client.

The cacheVariable is a specific class in Prosys OPC UA Java SDK. The mentioned part of specification means cache as an abstract concept which the server application can implement. The purpose of the maxAge parameter is that the client application can give a hint to the server application if it’s important that the value is recent.
