Whenever I try to acknowledge an event, the client seems to get an error.
We observe this when using the SampleConsoleServer and the Prosys OPC UA Client (free GUI tool), but also with our custom OPC UA server application as well.
After right-clicking on the event and clicking Acknowledge from the context menu, an error dialog pops up with this message:
Acknowledge method call failed. Reason=com.prosysopc.ua.n: Bad_EventIdUnknown (0x809A0000)
“The specified event id is not recognized.”;
InputArgumentResults=GOOD (0x00000000) “”, GOOD (0x00000000) “”;

Hi,
Thanks for notifying!
…
It would seem this is a bug in the graphical application itself (in all 3.x versions), not within the SDK. For example it should work with UaExpert.
Technical details: SDK version 3 changed UA ByteString mapping from byte[] to a concrete ByteString class. Seems the grapchical client application was not updated on that part properly and the EventId was always resolved as Null NodeId, which then caused in turn that error.
Will be fixed in the next version of the application.
P.S.
Something similar could also happen if you are acknowledging too old alarm, i.e. if the server has already a new alarm in the node. We should probably build a separate alarm view in the future to avoid that.
