Dear Sir/Madam,
I have been using Subscription library and onDataChange(parameters…) method.
It works fine but I want to double check something.
Does the Prosys client SDK’s subscription service works without Opc server being instructed?
My understanding is that the client Prosys SDK automatically makes requests to OPC server internally and retrieving data by few milliseconds and if values(states) are not same, it notifies onDataChange(parameters…) method override by me.
So I don’t need A&E or an extra plug-in in my OPC server to use Prosys client SDK Subscription service.
In other words, Prosys client’s subscription works with a normal OPC UA server for normal data change (not event).
If you can confirm or clarify about this, I will be grateful.
Thank you
Wish you nice days.
Kind regards
Seong

Hi Jouni,
Thank you for your kind and prompt reply.
My manager is considering of purchasing a license of one of your products. He wants to know if Prosys Client SDK subscription service works without an extra configuration on OPC server side. He saw it’s working on our back-end server However He wants to be sure about it.
In other words, he want to be sure that an OPC server doesn’t notify Prosys client SDK for alarm state changes, it looks like it does. However Prosys client SDK requests information by few miliseconds(?) and if the OPC server says a state of an alarm is changed, the subscription part (within Prosys client SDK) invokes onDataChange(prams…) method override in my(our) back-end server.
Sorry, I think I am making the issue complicated. Nevertheless, all my manager wants to know whether the topic ’10. Subscribe to data changes’ on the Prosys client SDK tutorial works without an extra configuration or a special plugin within an OPC server (Kepware UA OPC server).
I understand that the topic ’11. subscribe to event’ might need an A&E plugin in OPC server side. However I want to know about subscription of simple data changes.
I apologias for the lengthy paragraphs but if you can give some clarification about the issue above I will be more than grateful
Thank you
Kind regards
Seong

Yes, Data Change notifications and Subscriptions are a necessary part of standard OPC UA servers, such as KepWare servers.
Event notifications are also standard and if events are supported by the OPC Server will function automatically. But you need to find out the support for events in the server product.
