Hi,

when I open the context menu in the Browser (which is connected to the simulation server) on the Node ‘Objects/MyObjects’/MyDevice/MyLevelAlarm’ (which should basically be an EventNode) and select ‘Monitor Events’, an error message is shown which says ‘The Node does not support subscribing to Events – Do you want to add the Node to Event View anyway’

If I then select OK, the MyLevelAlarm is shown in the EventView and also the Events are coming in.

With previous versions of the Browser I could not remember such a warning. Is this intended to be so?

Hello,

The value of the EventNotifier Attribute of MyLevelAlarm Object Node is None, so Browser is asking the user to confirm whether or not they wish to select such Node for monitoring Events. In the case of MyLevelAlarm, monitoring the Events will work, but typically it wouldn’t work for a Node with None as the value of the EventNotifier Attribute.

Therefore, this confirmation dialog appearing is intentional in newer versions of Browser. Similar confirmation dialogs appear in other situations where the selected Node doesn’t seem to be suitable for the operation, such as attempting to read Event history from an Object without HistoryRead option in its EventNotifier Attribute.

In this particular case, the correct Node to monitor for Events would be the MyDevice Node (nsu=http://www.prosysopc.com/OPCUA/SampleAddressSpace;s=MyDevice), though it does report the exact same Events that the MyLevelAlarm Node does. Receiving Events via MyLevelAlarm is a bug in the Simulation Server.
