The OPC Day Italy 2013 was held in Bologna on October 3rd. This was the first event of the kind in Italy and it was good to see a lot of attention here with a total 60 people attending the seminar. 3 new Italian companies have joined the OPC Foundation as new members this year so it looks like OPC is getting more grounds in Italy and the timing for the event was optimal!
The programme of the day was very similar to other OPC Day events; Stefan Hoppe as the president of OPC Europe taking the lead and Uwe Steinkrauss of Ascolab doing the more technical speeches. We also heard some local speeches targeted for the Italian people.
Claudio Fiorani of Progea was the local person responsible of the arrangements. I would like to thank all the organizers for a very pleasant event with extremely good Italian coffee (as usual) and food available during the day! Grazie mille a tutti!
Prosys was also sponsoring the event and we were demonstrating the Java based Weather Station OPC UA Server on Raspberry Pi and the OPC UA Android Client on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. This was seen as an interesting demo, although it is not the most common scenario for the OPC UA Java applications, but can show that Java is a true cross-platform solution, also in the embedded world.
The next OPC Day will be the OPC & MES Day Finland, October 15th. I hope to see you there next!
